Monday Motivation: Setting Your Intention for the Week

Happy Monday!

This is a post that changes every Monday. The original post was 16th July 2018:

I have had such a great Monday today – I believe it is because I decided it was going to be a great day, and so it was.

Affirmations play a big part of my morning routine. Recently I have adopted rather than one affirmation per day to focus on a core affirmation for the week. Therefore setting up a weekly intention. Here are the results:

25 March 2019 –

“Be Present”

Yep that’s it. I’ve needed an important reminder of this as I experienced unexpected change this week.

“If you help enough people to get what they want, you will get what you want” by Jim Rohn

22nd August please note: for the record, this quote is a version of a Zig Ziglar original quote of  ‘You will get all you want in life if you help enough other people get what they want’

And Jim Rohn gave a version here: https://m.facebook.com/OfficialJimRohn/posts/10154910734390635

I am liking this version: ‘If you help enough people to get what they want, you will get what you want’ because it puts others first rather than you’re own motivations and that feels better to me right now 🙂

  1. Monday mornings in the past were always a battle to get up and go to the usual 9-5 toil, but you just had to get use to it as there will be many Mondays like them.

  2. Hey Fleur, I wholeheartedly believe that your mind has the power to transform your life – if you believe in yourself, you will achieve great things! Thanks for today’s affirmation!

  3. Hi Fleur
Thanks for this. Short and sweet but just what the doctor ordered.
Hope you have a wonderful day.
I’ll be back to see the next instalment. 🙂

  4. Hello Fleur,
I think we all need “Motivational Monday’s”! Mine actually starts on Sunday nights at 11:00 PM and usually it’s not good. I operate and mechanic fiber optic machines for a living on 3rd shift and they don’t like it when we shut them down for the weekend.
But good to know…. “I am enough” to get the job done and done right!
Thanks for the encouragement! I love your site!
    Best of luck,
    Devara

    1. Thanks so much Devara – You certainly are enough. Say that affirmation to yourself 3 times while looking into your own eyes in the mirror. How do you feel? It can different on different days

  5. Hi there I have actually learned to view Mondays as a positive day and not get so down on it. I think when you are doing work you are passionate about then you will view Mondays in a positive light maybe even look forward to it. This is an important affirmation. “I am flexible and full of energy” this has great meaning to me because it leaves me open to the universe and whatever it may bring. What I can not control, can not control me!

    1. I absolutely agree Dwyan. I remember decades ago in my 20s hating Mondays but now I learn to embrace them with ‘flexibility and full of energy’ it just makes it easier. Delighted it has resonated with you too.

  6. If you set your mind to it and you’re serious about what you want, you can get it! Mind over matter, they say…and they are right. I think our mind is more powerful than we can even understand, at times. And I believe that to be a beautiful thing, because that means there is so much more there is to learn about ourselves.

  7. Hi Fleur,

I used only one statement and it was always the same: “I like myself”. I learned with Bryan Tracy. I’m a fan of affirmations and will use them more often, especially “I am enough”. It is very powerful especially when we are afraid or doubtful about ourselves.

    Thank you.

    Rui

    1. Agreed Rui we are likeminded I am making note of these. I normally use from Louise Hay – I love and approve of myself but it is nice to have several options on a similar theme. I think I’ll share these Bryan Tracy ones for a Monday Motivation sometimes too – thanks for sharing!

  8. Hey there. I am so happy I came across your post. It is quite easy to get distracted and demotivated when life gets in the way sometimes, but your post has just brought me back to life.

  9. Hey Fleur 🙂 So many people can relate to Mondays. I know I used to before I retired. I used to get the Monday blues on Sunday nights. It’s all about attitude and I believe that if we change our attitudes to positive thoughts we could change all the Monday blues stuff, right? Monday can be like any other day. It doesn’t have to be the “bad guy!”
    Thanks!
    ~Rob

    1. I agree Rob, yes in my twenties when I worked in banking I got the Monday blues in a big way, however, these days I normally enjoy the beginning of the week because I now spend my Sundays at home getting ready for the week – cooking and preparing meals etc – I enjoy a low carb lifestyle and the working week is just easier if I do a small amount of preparation on Sundays – so have completely turned around my attitude to Mondays – also these Monday Motivations help in a big way!

  10. Don’t sweat the small stuff!
Yes, this is the one that I need every day. With 3 kids there is so much of this small stuff, as toys everywhere, dirty dishes on the table, being late to a school, lost gloves etc etc.
I get mad at everything !! I need to slow down and see it in the right light..
Need to try it as motivation setting.
    Thank you.
    Mary

    1. Oh my goodness yes Don’t Sweat the Small stuff is so good, I have one son so I don’t know how you do it re 3! I hear you about getting mad at everything. Particularly on weekends, I try to slow down as much as possible. For example, where we can we catch the train to get to places that I know will be stressful in finding a carpark that way I’m relaxed and don’t have to deal with the additional stress of where to park but I would imagine that could be even more stressful with 3 in tow rather than only 1

  11. Hi Fleur, I just tried your affirmations and I feel wonderful now. Affirmations are a wonderful tool to stay on track. Thank you very much for sharing!

    1. I’m delighted to hear it has changed how you feel. This raises your vibration and helps you to attract all that you want to achieve with ease and inflow – have a great day!

  12. This is awesome Fleur! I love positive affirmations and the one for this week is interesting. Especially for me right now starting a website also falling in the personal development category. It’s good to keep in mind! I am here to serve FIRST.

I want to try this! I love new concepts and ideas for life improvement. I will say this affirmation everyday and see.

    Thank you for sharing!

    1. Fantastic Stefani I’m delighted it has benefited you and yes come back and share your experience after saying affirmations daily. I used to have a new affirmation each day but since beginning this post back in July I am enjoying focusing on the main affirmation for the week. This one is relevant to me because I’m returning to regular blog posts after a month off learning more about keyword research and creating content via video

  13. I used to hate Monday’s even though I had a great job at the time. Since kissing goodbye to that part of my life, nowadays I don’t even think of Monday as the start of my week, to me they are all the same which is great, no pressure and all that and since I tend to work whenever and normally 7 days (not the 8-hour grind). Positive thinking and believing and if it takes standing in front of the mirror then so be it. Very inspirational and maybe I should look into this more. Thanks for sharing.

    1. Yes I should credit the saying affirmations in front of the mirror as a Louis Hay strategy – it is very powerful and takes you to the next level although on some days it can be confronting depending on how you’re feeling. Yes I too no longer dread Mondays and use them as a launch pad to the working week – although a portion of what I do is not tied to the working week I enjoy the routine of more downtime on the weekend with family and friends

  14. I just love the Jimmy Dean quote above. I’d never heard that one before today. I saw one of your other readers mention Brian Tracy above. I’ve read several of his books and done the “I LIKE MYSELF” affirmation. It really does warm your spirit. I’m going to practice yours in the morning before work but do them in front of the mirror as you suggested. I’ll be back to report later!:)

    1. Excellent Jennifer it makes a difference to do them in front of the mirror, I got that strategy from Louis Hay. Yes do report back would love to hear about your experience

  15. Hi Fleur

We all need Monday motivation, and the quote “I am Enough” are three very powerful words, those three words cannot only get you motivated but make a big difference in a lot of peoples live.

    Thanks

  16. Hello,

Monday can be the most tasking day of the week and it’s good to be motivated as early as Monday for the task of the week. Some days you’ll have to find extra motivation to pull through and what does it for me is “as a man thinketh so is he”. I always channel positive thoughts in my mind to keep me heading in the right direction.

It pays to always consider the bigger picture

    Thanks for sharing

    1. Agreed Louis. I believe practicing positive thoughts and gratitude needs to be a daily practice just like brushing your teeth is so important. A positive mindset is so important to our overall health and wellbeing

  17. Mondayitis has long been a feature of our lives because we are introduced to doing something we are not passionate about, usually called work.

One way around this is to do something on a Monday that you like.
For Instance, I go for an early morning Swim on Monday with a group of like-minded
    individuals terminating with a Coffee.
The world seems a lot better place after this ritual.

    Peter H

  18. Hi,

I am very glad to read your article. I think it will inspire many people to reach their specific destination. Many people want to leave on Sunday and Monday. I believe this will inform the specific knowledge about the demand. It will encourage many great dignitaries to obey many rules. I will share this with my other friends. Thank you for writing this great article.

    1. My pleasure, I consistently enjoy all days of the week both week days and weekend days however I know many struggle; as I did in my 20s. So hope to motivate those that need it.

  19. Mondayitis has long been a malady for change when doing something you don’t like, perhaps work.

One way around this is to plan something pleasurable on a Monday to replace the unpleasant aspect.

For instance, I plan an early morning Ocean Swim with a group of like-minded individuals terminating in a group coffee gathering. The world seems a better place after this.

    Peter H

    1. Thanks for sharing your strategy to beat Mondayitis, Peter, that’s great! I agree an ocean swim is an exhilarating way to start the day and week!

  20. Hi Fleur Allen ,

Wow, this is an interesting article . First of all , setting an intention is often association with my meditation . I can set my intention as i begin monday – whether it is to start my day ,my meditation ,my week ,and my day . I know that an intention will help create more clarity in my life , especially when the seed is planted right before i start my meditation . It becomes the driving force of my higher consciousness . I also like this .Thanks for sharing this event with us .

    1. My absolute pleasure, yes agreed setting your intention whether be through meditation or as affirmations really does work. It keeps what you do want top of mind throughout your day. However, I meditate too and absolutely love it. Thanks for sharing your experiences

  21. Wow, I am definitely going to bookmark this page and revisit often.  You see I am one of those who struggles to enjoy the things that are right in front of me. I am too busy thinking about the future, past, what I need to do, what I haven’t done etc etc. instead of focusing on the now.  One of the ways that my wife talks about aleveiating this is with gratitude.  You see I live in a beach town with plenty of friends, a magical wife and amazing son and two beautiful grown daughter who live out of home,  We have a lifestyle that allows us to work from home at the hours we choose yet still I struggle with being grateful for what I have.

Often I just need to be reminded which is where this page comes in for me.  I will make it remind me daily to look at it and remind me that to have gratitude is a major key to life enjoyment.

Thanks Fluer for a great page

    Paul

    1. Thanks, Paul, I’m delighted to hear you gained so much from this page. That was my absolute intention so it is great to hear it is working.

I believe defaulting to as you describe, ‘busy thinking’ and thinking about the past or future is easy because we all do it, I am no different and I can relate to what you describe.  I have found in recent years creating some daily or weekly habits to support a positive mindset, a grateful heart is essential. As essential as drinking water and sleep. I look forward to you coming back. My intention is to update the Monday Motivation page each week.
